Where every dataset comes from, when it was collected and what it was checked against.
Rules for every sport
- Numbers are shown as recorded. No adjustments for era, league scoring or anything else are applied.
- “Per game” is the total divided by games played.
- A player who changed teams during a season has one row per team and one combined row. Career totals use the combined rows only, so nothing is counted twice.
- A season in progress is marked, and its numbers change until the season ends.
- A figure that is missing for a season is shown as a dash and is never counted as zero.
Hockey
Rules for hockey
- Other leagues, such as the WHA, are stored separately and are not part of NHL totals.
- Shortened seasons (1994–95, 2012–13, 2019–20 and 2020–21) are shown as they were played, with no scaling. Games played are shown next to the numbers.
- Age is counted on 1 February of the season's second calendar year.
